Before following the steps below and starting troubleshooting your garbage disposal, make sure you have the following materials with you: Jam Buster Wrench, Flashlight, and Tongs or Pliers.
- Insert the wrench into the hole at the bottom of the garbage disposal.
- Work the wrench back and forth in both directions.
- Continue working with the wrench
- Check the overload protector.
- Check inside garbage disposal’s grinding chamber.
- Turn on the water, then the garbage disposal.
Fixing a Clogged Garbage Disposal

- Disconnect the p-trap and the horizontal extension pipe.
- Disconnect the down drain pipe.
- Pry off the snap ring and clean off the old plumber’s putty.
- Install the new sink flange.
- Install gasket and flanges.
- Slip-on the mounting and snap rings.
- Remove the dishwasher knockout plug.
- Connect the electrical
- Hang the garbage disposal.
- Insert the discharge tube.
- Align the discharge tube with the drain pipe.
- Lock the garbage disposal in place.
- Test the garbage disposal.
*ELECTRICAL UNIT
- Hardwired Unit: Turn the garbage disposal over and remove the electrical cover plate. Pull out wires. Insert cable connector (not included) and run electrical cable through the access hole on the bottom of the garbage disposal. Tighten the cable connector. Push wires into garbage disposal (do not displace cardboard shield) and replace the electrical cover plate.
- Corded Unit: For garbage disposal with a factory-installed cord, simply plugin to the outlet under your sink after completing the rest of the steps.
Installing an Instant Hot Water Dispenser

- Turn off the water supply.
- Mount the faucet.
- Tighten the faucet.
- Mount the hot water tank.
- Connect the tubes.

For Hot Only Models: If you are installing the filtration system, you’ll now insert the outlet tubing into the quick-connect fitting, and then insert the dispenser faucet copper tube – marked with white tape – into the quick-connect fitting. For Hot/Cold Models: If you are installing the filtration system, insert the tubing from the outlet side of the filter head into the quick-connect “Y” fitting. Then insert both dispenser faucet copper tubes – one white taped, one untaped – into the quick-connect “Y” fitting. - Insert the tube into the compression fitting.
- Fill the tank.
- Install the gasket and rings.
- Adjust the temperature.
